Let's Make Buttons! (2-day class)

Are you looking for the perfect buttons? Why not design and create your own? In this class, we'll create durable stoneware ceramic buttons from wet clay. The first class will focus on making the buttons, and the second will focus on glazing. The possibilities are endless! 

Each student will have the opportunity to create up to 15 handmade buttons. No prior ceramic experience is necessary. The finished buttons will be available for pickup, or can be mailed for a fee ($12.95 for a USPS flat rate padded envelope - can be paid by Venmo, Square, or cash during class).

Note: This class takes place on 2 Saturdays: January 23 from 12:00 - 2:30pm and January 30 from 12:30 - 2:00pm.

 

About the Instructor: Melissa Wickwire

 

Instructor will provide the following:
All project materials, including clay, glazes, boards to work on, and tools. 

Students are asked to bring:

• You may want to bring an item you are making the buttons for to find the glaze color(s) you like best.
• Note-taking tools (if you’d like to take notes)
• Optional: tools and/or found objects for texture.
• We recommend dressing in layers, as certain classrooms can be drafty depending on the time of year.

Skill Level
No experience required. 

Age Recommendation
Students ages 8 and older are welcome to attend this class. Ages 8-15 must register with another registered adult. Ages 16-17 can register with parent permission by an email to info@marinemillsfolkschool.org.
