Experience the magic of winter through hands-on exploration, creativity, and play in nature. Kids in Nature: Winter is a family workshop designed for children ages 3–8 and their caregivers to discover the season through engaging, developmentally appropriate outdoor activities. Families will participate in winter-themed adventures that may include creating snow candles, ice painting, building pine cone bird feeders, making clay nature prints, weaving with sticks and yarn, and exploring traditional folk games from around the world. Activities are designed to encourage curiosity, problem-solving, creativity, and joyful movement while helping children build confidence and resilience in outdoor environments.
A seasonal story and snack are woven into the experience, providing opportunities for connection, reflection, and community. Through guided exploration and child-led discovery, families will learn about winter ecology, seasonal changes, and the many ways people have connected with nature across cultures and generations.
Rooted in evidence-based early childhood practices, this workshop supports sensory exploration, motor development, social-emotional learning, and family connection. Caregivers will leave with simple ideas for continuing outdoor adventures at home, along with resources that encourage year-round exploration and appreciation of the natural world.
