In this beginner-friendly class, you will create 3 different watercolor greeting card designs while learning several watercolor techniques: a winter birch scene, using a resist technique and a gradient sky, a colorful winter tree, where you will experiment with brushwork and iridescent paint, and a fun holiday ornament card using bottle caps to create a rustic circle print, which will be our base to practice flooding our shape with water and color.
You may be able to make more than three cards in this class if there is time, and you’ll definitely have fun! This class is great for folks who are new to the medium and people who have explored it a bit before, but want to learn some tricks and techniques to expand their practice.
About the Instructor: Surelle Strike
Your instructor will provide the following materials:
All project materials, including watercolor cards and envelopes, watercolor paint, cups, paper towels, brushes, masking fluid, micron/permanent pens, circle tools (bottle caps).
Students are asked to bring:
Wear clothes you don’t mind getting a little dirty. Watercolor is generally not the messiest of painting mediums, but it's always good to be prepared just in case!
