Every knot is a tool. The right one makes work easier, safer, and more reliable, especially when you’re on the water or living out of a pack. The right knot holds fast under load, releases cleanly when you need it to, and works with the rope rather than against it. This course gives you a working knowledge of knots, and more importantly, teaches you how to choose the right knot for the job.

Start by making a short length of rope from raw fiber, then work through a series of hands-on labs, each focused on a different family of knots.

What you'll leave with: a working vocabulary of knots across every major category, and the ability to look at a task and choose the right knot for the situation.

Who it's for: anyone who uses rope — paddlers, bikepackers, sailors, campers and backpackers or just the curious. All skill levels welcome: the lab format means beginners and experienced hands each get what they need.
