Learn how to weave a strong, attractive rattan splint chair seat in this beginner-friendly, two-day class. You’ll work on a prepared chair frame provided for you, along with the rattan splints and foam pad needed to complete your project.

During class, you’ll learn how to weave the classic 3 x 3 twill seat in a herringbone pattern, a beautiful and sturdy design often used on woven chair seats. Step by step, you’ll practice laying out the pattern, weaving with proper tension, and joining strands neatly. You’ll also learn how and when to insert the foam pad, which provides extra support under the woven seat and helps it last longer with regular use.

This class is designed for beginners and hands-on learners who enjoy traditional crafts, furniture repair, and useful projects. By the end of the day, you’ll take home your finished woven chair, along with the basic skills and confidence to continue practicing rattan splint seat weaving on future projects.

*Note: This is a 2-day class, taking place October 17 and 18, 10:00 am - 3:00 pm each day.
