Get ready for an explosion of color! This class will dive into natural dye plants growing in Minnesota this time of year, including black walnut, marigold, goldenrod, and sumac. Natural dyes reduce environmental impact while teaching us about our landscape, chemistry, and native plants.
Class will begin with a foraging walk led by fearless instructor Riley Kleve, where you’ll learn to identify and gather locally available dye plants. Back in the classroom, you’ll use fresh and dried materials to design and dye a set of four napkins or bandanas.
Learn the basics and beyond of working with natural dyes, and leave with your completed projects plus the knowledge and skills to continue experimenting at home.
