Intermediate West African Drumming SINGLE SESSION

Intermediate West African Drumming is an energizing class for drummers ready to level up their skills and dive into more complex rhythms at a quicker pace of instruction. This class is perfect for anyone looking to challenge themselves, build endurance, and experience the joy of making music together in a high-energy, supportive environment.

 

*Please note - you are registering for a SINGLE SESSION on November 5. If you prefer to register for the full class series, the classes are offered at a discounted rate of $10 each. You can find the FALL SERIES registration under the class listing for November 5.

 

Intermediate West African Drumming will meet on Thursdays at Christ Lutheran Church in Marine on St. Croix from 7:00 - 8:30pm on the following dates: November 5, 12, 19 and December 3 and 10, 2026.

 

About the Instructor: Janice Hunton

 

Your instructor will provide the following:

Drums and other percussion instruments. 

 

Students are asked to bring:

Those who own djembe or kpanlogo drums should bring them. 

 

Skill Level 

Intermediate West African drumming is intended for students who have attended the regular West African drumming classes through the Folk School and are ready for additional challenges. Students who have prior West African drumming experience from other institutions are also welcome to attend the Thursday evening classes, though it is strongly recommended that they first attend a few Friday classes to see if the Intermediate level would be a good fit.

 

Age Recommendation

Students ages 16 and older are welcome to attend this class. Students ages 16 and 17 may attend without a parent/guardian in attendance as long as MMFS is provided with written parental permission by email to info@marinemillsfolkschool.org.
