*Note – this registration page is for the full 9-class series. Classes take place October 9, 16, 23, 30, November 6, 13, 20, December 4 & 11. If you register for the full series, the classes are offered at a discounted rate of $10 each. Alternatively, you have the option of registering for single sessions under the specific dates on the website for $15/class.
Learn basic techniques of hand-drumming across djembe and kpanlogo drums, bells, shakers and stick drums. In this class, you will explore how layered rhythms come together to create rich musical conversations within traditional West African genres.
When you sign up for the West African Hand Drumming Series, you’ll be registered for 9 drumming sessions with no pressure to attend every class. We’ll meet on Fridays from 4:30 - 6:00PM at Christ Lutheran Church in Marine on St. Croix for the following dates: October 9, 16, 23, 30, November 6 & 13, 20, December 4 & 11.

Students are asked to bring:

Joy, openness to learning something new, and a djembe or kpanlogo drum if they have one.
Skill Level
All levels are welcome!
Age Recommendation
Students ages 16 and older are welcome to attend this class. Students ages 16 and 17 may attend without a parent/guardian in attendance as long as MMFS is provided with written parental permission by email to info@marinemillsfolkschool.org.
