Make your own postcards or mountable pieces of art in this beginner-friendly class! Everyone will draw, carve, and print multiples of a 4” x 6” black and white relief print by hand - in a design of their own, or from a sample image provided by the instructor.
Skills covered include safely handling carving tools, how to properly ink a relief block, how to print a design using hand-printing methods, and how to troubleshoot the at-home printmaking process. The instructor will share information on how to color in your work at home, if desired.
Your instructor will provide the following:
- rulers
- newspaper
- pencils
- scissors
- tape
- miniature printing press
- carving tools
- sharpening tools
- ink knife for demonstration.
Students are asked to bring:
- A work apron if they have one, or clothes they do not mind staining
Since your class runs over the lunch hour, we recommend you bring a lunch or click here to learn about local eating opportunities.
